Affiliate Marketing

Full disclosure:

One of my followers on Twitter told me about affiliate marketing and recommended that I give it a try, in their words "for when I get fired," which I'm really hoping doesn't happen any time soon. I plan to keep blogging either way, so I'll give the marketing thing a shot. In the interest of being completely honest, I wanted to explain to you all how it works, mostly for those of you that are blogging newbies like me:

I will sometimes share links in my articles that will take you to a website like Amazon. If you decide to purchase the item that I linked, I get a small commission for it. I don't want this to be annoying for anyone, as the content is absolutely the most important thing to me, so I have a couple of promises for you guys:

1. I will always let you know in the article if there are affiliate links, either in the header, or I'll follow the link with (Affiliate). Sometimes I link to news websites; I won't make any money for doing that, those are just articles that I think you'll find interesting.

2. If I post something just for the purpose of affiliate links, I won't share it on Twitter. If people come across those posts while on the blog, great, but I don't want to shove them down anyone's throat.

3. I'll only link you to things that I've used. Honestly, it will most likely be books that I like and / or have found useful and I think that you'll enjoy also. I promise I won't spam you with a million links.

4. If anyone objects to this, please let me know. I don't want to lose any readers, I just thought it was something that might be worth a shot.

With all of that being said, an offer that I took advantage of a few years ago (that I didn't know was an affiliate link) is this offer from Audible. I use Audible -all- the time. There are literally thousands of great audiobooks from just about every category on there: Politics, Presidential memoirs, Intelligence Community memoirs, history books, etc. If you've never tried audiobooks and you're interested, they have a free month / two free book deal going on right now. Just for clicking this link and signing up, you get two audiobooks of your choice and a month of audible for free. If you decide you like it, it's $15 a month and you get a credit for a book of your choice every month. If you ever don't like a book, they have what's called the Great Listen Guarantee. You can return a book for any reason, or for no reason at all and you immediately get your credit back and can use it on another book of your choice. If you decide Audible isn't for you, cancel before your free month is up and you never get charged anything, plus you get to keep the books:

Thanks as always for reading, I'm working on a post that articulates exactly how crazy the political firestorm in Washington is right now. I've never seen anything like this before - it's nothing short of absolute chaos.
