Kava-NOPE!

Now that skeletons are falling out of his closest faster than money flew out the door of Trump Casino, I'm going to offer my prediction that tomorrow will be a *really* bad day for the Kavanaugh nomination. I've spoken with a couple GOP Senate staffers this evening, and all indication is that they knew this story was coming and were trying to get out ahead of it/push the nomination through before it broke. There's also credible rumor of more to come. Sorry 'bout your luck, GOP. At this point, they're still hesitant to pull the nomination because they think it's going to be catastrophic for them in the midterms if they don't fill this seat. More catastrophic than elevating a potential serial-predator to the bench, you might ask? Well, I suppose that's for the common folk to figure out. Ultimately, I believe Kavanaugh will withdraw his name from consideration, if for no reason other than to try and make this shitstorm go away.

That's all I've got on Kavanaugh for now; I wrote this in blog form to give you guys a brief update on me as well:

I've told you many times that I try to keep my feed a good balance of snark and information, but admittedly I've been trending more towards snark lately. This is mostly because I've been legitimately burned-out. Dealing with this administration's BS every day and then Tweeting about it every night was becoming the equivalent of, "How was your day, honey?" after a particularly shitty day at work... repeated with my 90,000 closest friends. It was far more fulfilling for me to post some jokes a couple times a day and try my best to ignore the news cycle (ha, as if). I see now that not only is that pointless -- I couldn't ignore the news cycles even if I closed my eyes and ran around screaming at the top of my lungs with my fingers in my ears -- it's also not beneficial. I started my Twitter account and this blog to share information that might not be available to many people, and I found that to be cathartic. I'll still be posting my awful dad-jokes (sorry, not sorry) and the occasional snark, but I'm going to make a sincere effort to get back to being more informative than glib. Many of you have also been asking for another Ask Me Anything (AMA). I haven't done one of those since about 10,000 followers, so I imagine this is going to be B-O-N-K-E-R-S, but I'm down to try. I will find a time where I can set up a 30-60 min window and get that done.

Last side-note: I'm making it my mission to not only use my platform for information, but I am going to do my damnedest to help unseat as many of the complicit GOP (read: 90% of them) as I can. I'm not joking when I say this is the most important election of most of our lives. If you've never voted before, THIS is the election you *have* to vote in. If you aren't registered, please, do it this week. Do it today. We HAVE to start mobilizing now. If this election isn't a full-throated rebuke of Trumpism, I'm sincerely afraid that more will follow. If that happens, shame on all of us.

  3. Use your weekends to unplug, take a walk in a forest. In Japan and Norway, they actually recommend 20 min of "forest bathing" to cleanse our minds and souls of the stench of today's society. Pause, breathe, and be thankful you are in a place to keep thousands encouraged and informed.

  6. They have a bench of conservative jurists to pick from — why in the world did they go with Rapey McRaper? It makes no goddamn sense Angry. These people seem to fetishize cruelty; I just don’t get it. Thanks for doing what you do. You’re my go-to Alt govver. xxo

  7. You were one of my very first follows after the Disaster Election of 2016. I always worry that you might disappear like many of the other Rogue accounts. Please hang in there! Take care of yourself as well.

  8. I totally understand when the news cycle becomes too much. It's crazy and does take it's toll. Rosenstein today as an example was a roller coaster.

I appreciate all you do to keep us informed. I'm doing what I can for the blue wave by volunteering for Nate McMurray, the dem trying to unseat indicted Chris Collins. So far response has been good but it's a heavily red district. Cook has it listed as lean R now and we're doing all we can to change it.

    Keep up the good fight.

  9. I'm some nobody. Basically a lurker. For what it's worth, your account is one of the best, informative, interactive, and plain witty on Twitter. Your writing is stellar and you have a voice and tone all of your own. When you branch off into international issues (eg North Korea, Syria) it's inspired me to seek further information (so I assume others did as well). And now, I'll register my 19 year old to vote. Thank you for you service, creativity, intelligence, and labor of love.

  11. Thank you, Angry. For the first time in my life (I am a senior citizen) I have been, and will continue to be, a volunteer to get folks out to vote. If I have to drive them myself, I will!
